CBD has recently gained a lot of attention with its alleged benefits for sleep, pain and recovery, however still lacks scientific evidence to prove these benefits amongst healthy individuals. CBD also has regulatory hurdles to overcome in the US and EU, thus provides a lot of uncertainty on approval of products.

Fortunately, for those people, there's PEA, an endocannabinoid-like molecule that interacts with the endocannabinoid system (ECS) and researched to exert similar benefits to CBD. The ECS is an important system involved in balancing numerous bodily function, such as stress, pain, mood, and immunomodulation.

How is it different from CBD?
Elite Sport
PEA provides many of the same benefits as CBD and removes the concern around THC trace levels, which is banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency in competing athletes.

Whilst THC levels in CBD supplements is highly regulated and will only be found in very small concentrations, it isn't possible to remove THC completely due to both compounds naturally occurring in the hemp plant.

The use of NSAIDS is also a huge issue in the realm of sport. PEA has shown to be more effective at reducing pain than ibuprofen in a 2012 study (1).

Therefore, PEA is a safer and more efficacious alternative to CBD and NSAIDS for athlete use in sport.
